Voted 'Class Clown' and "Class Artist' by his high school graduating class (a VERY long time ago), Jay has used his creativity throughout his career to build a successful photography business, Catamount Studios, which he runs from his 18-acre home and property in northern Vermont.
Jay's unique ability to capture just the right moment through his lens gives his clients lifetime keepsakes of their most precious moments.
Not afraid to stand in the middle of a rainstorm for the perfect rainbow or hang out in the woods to catch a glimpse of a moose, his landscape and wildlife portfolio will make you feel like you're standing right next to him.
Jay has taken his creativity to new heights with his latest project, Porch Portraits - 1,000 Miles 1,000 Smiles, an idea hatched during the very early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jay is traveling the state of Vermont at all hours of the day and night in the hopes of being in the right place at the right time to see this pandemic as authentically as he can. Wearing a mask and walking up to people asking to take their photo during such a crazy time in our world is no easy task. Sometimes Jay has to persuade folks along the way - by wearing something silly on his head to attract the attention of a fidgety toddler or offering a friendly smile and conversation to a group of people who are homeless, he somehow manages to convince even the toughest audiences.
Jay quickly realized he was on to something and began offering more formal Porch Portraits to raise money for his favorite charities. In exchange for these lifetime memories, he collects donations and has raised tens of thousands of dollars for some truly great causes.
